Missoula Real Estate Photo Prep Checklist

How to prepare a home for real estate photos. Forward this to your seller 48 hours before the shoot — 30 minutes of prep is the difference between good photos and great ones.

Whole home

  • Turn on every light — lamps included — and replace burned-out bulbs
  • Open all blinds and curtains
  • Turn off ceiling fans and TVs
  • Hide cords, chargers, remotes, and power strips
  • Remove personal photos where privacy matters to the seller
  • Put away pet beds, bowls, crates, and toys

Kitchen

  • Clear countertops — leave at most one or two styled items
  • Remove magnets and papers from the refrigerator
  • Hide dish soap, sponges, towels, and drying racks
  • Empty the sink and take out the trash

Bathrooms

  • Clear counters of toiletries entirely
  • Close toilet lids
  • Hang fresh, matching towels
  • Remove shampoo bottles from showers and tub edges

Bedrooms

  • Make all beds; straighten pillows and bedding
  • Clear nightstands to a lamp and one item
  • Hide laundry hampers and clothes
  • Tidy closet floors if closets will be photographed

Exterior

  • Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the front of the home
  • Coil hoses; store bins, tools, and toys
  • Mow, edge, and sweep walkways (or clear snow in winter)
  • Remove seasonal decorations unless intentionally staying
  • Open patio umbrellas and stage outdoor furniture
